The Wisdom of Proverbs

For the next several months we will offer an expository study through the book of Proverbs.  The book of Proverbs is a teaching manual of wisdom literature that continually gives truth for everyday life.  The book emphasizes folly or foolishness and exposes the ways of foolishness, its consequences, and the ways of avoiding foolish thinking and behavior.  The book is basically two-sided showing the ways of wisdom and the failures of foolishness.  The book is a book of revealed morality that contains divine wisdom from God for His covenant people.  Sanctification occurs as the Holy Spirit enables the believer to do what is instructed in God's word.  Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God, and it is in His likeness that one grows as he applies the teachings of the book of Proverbs to daily living.
